ME- TASHA HYDE

My Name is Tasha and I am 10 years old. I live with my Mummy- Renee, My Daddy- Tony, My big brother- Zac and my grandfather- Ren. We have lived in the one rented house since I came home from hospital when I was 6 and a half months old. I was a very sick baby but I really did not know.  I was on lots of meds and I would not eat, I did not sleep propley and could not see anything so it was allot harder to learn like other children. When I was about 3 I was not as sick anymore, things sort of settled down for my family. I started going to SEDU on a Wednesday morning and it was great for me and mum to learn new things to help me improve my life, when I was 4 I started going 3 days a week, I always came home very happy and tired. When I was 5 I started going to Narbethong State Special School it is a little over an hour drive from my home but it’s the only school for blind children in QLD, I catch a bus there and home everyday, it is a long day for me but worth it as it’s the best place for me to go and learn and I really enjoy going.

MOTHER- RENEE HYDE

Hello, I am Tasha’s very proud Mum, My name is Renee and I am 29 years old, I am married and have 2 wonderful children. My parents got divorced when I was 3, I lived with my mother, 2 older brothers and my grandfather and I got to see my dad all the time, we lived in a small town till I was almost 11 we than moved to Brisbane. My mother moved around a bit and I always had to make new friends. I met my husband when I was 14 and it was love at first sight. We got engaged when I was 16 and I fell pregnant at 17. The wedding was planned already so we got married a little earlier than we expected, our son was born on the 5th of April 1999, 6 weeks premature it was a big shock and we were very lucky he had no major complications. We were very excited new parents. Zac was growing up well and when he was 10 months we found out I was pregnant for a second time with Tasha, I had lots of complications during her pregnancy and birth. Tasha was born 6 and a half weeks premature, she was born on the 21st of July 2000 and had major complications for quite a long time. It was all very hard for me to deal with but I came through stronger than ever, how could I not, watching my 2 beautiful children grow up.
I am really grateful for the amazing relationships I have with my dad and couple of good friends as I don’t have a relationship with anyone else in my family due to problems in our past.
I have worked on and off over the passed years at a few different jobs the last being Childcare and I have also helped with a few community events and my son’s sporting club. I am not working now as fundraising for Tasha’s treatment is a full time job as well as looking after my family.

FATHER- ANTHONY (Tony) HYDE

Hi, I am Tasha’s Dad- Tony, I am 32 years old and was born in VIC. I have been very blessed to have my parents stay together and I have 2 older sister’s. we moved from Vic to Brisbane when I was 10 as I was suffering from ADHD and the moved really helped me. My parents have lived in the same house since moving to Brisbane, it’s been nice to have a family home. When I was a teenager I acted out but meeting my wife at 17 changed my life. We got married and had our children, I am a scout leader and love helping, although it takes up a lot of my spare time when I’m not at work. In the past I have also been coach to my son’s football team and registrar at the club. As a family we try to be involved in our community, and hope our children continue when they are older.
I have worked allot of the time but we need to  live week by week and it can be hard when we need to pay co-payments on Tasha’s wheelchairs and other medical things she needs. Leaving us no choice but to fundraise for Tasha’s treatment as we get no government help towards it.
